The Phantoms Have Arrived! Two weeks after falling 4-3 to Rogue River
in the team's inaugural game at Lazerskate, the Phantoms returned and
capped a clear and decisive 10-5 decision over the Red Devils on
Sunday. The Phantom Offense surged into the double digits for the fifth
time in the team's past 12 games dating back to last season. The victory
marks the first ever win by the Phantoms at Lazerskate and improves the
team to a 1-1 record. Phantom newcomer Ty Coon would capture the
three-goal-hat-trick, while Matt Myers, Matt Zehr and Brad Zehr would
each record a pair of goals and Casey Rosenberg tallied a singleton.
Besides the goal scorers, Trent Kik and Gordie Anderson would reach the
score sheet as the two each recorded a single assist. The Phantoms
played without the services of Brian Doctor on defense, yet watched as
Matt Myers returned to the Yellow and Black to fill in the void left by the
team's own Hockey Doctor. Mike Shaver would return to the sport of
hockey after nearly a five month absence due to injury. Mike returns after
a summer injury to his arm that was incurred during a Summer 2006
Copper League game at Rivertown Sports. The Phantoms will return to
action this Sunday at 4:00pm to tangle with the Bronze-Leagued Hockey
Rats. Players are reminded that this game will mark the first of two
deadlines for players to turn in league fees. $50 is due from each player
prior to face-off.
