The West Michigan Phantoms were able to begin their historic 10-Year-Anniversary-Week on a positive note, as the Yellow Shirts capped a 3-1 victory against Snipesmere in Quarter-Final Post-Season action Sunday at Walker Ice & Fitness.  The victory, produced on goals from Sean Wert (2) and Nate Skoboda (1), paved the way for the Phantoms to extend the teams third-ever ice hockey post-season into the Semi-Final round which will take on Sunday, September 9th.  The victory against Snipesmere gives the Phantoms the overall season-advantage against Snipesmere with a 2-1 record through the three meetings (2 regular season and 1 post-season).  Despite the visitors jumping into a 1-0 lead just three minutes into the tilt on a shot that would beat the Phantom netminder short-side, the Phantoms would use the second and third periods to rise above Snipesmere and ultimately take a 3-1 win.  Sean Wert would stage a late second period goal (unassisted) to record his fourth of the season and end a scoring drought that has lasted since June 17th.  The Phantoms would climb into their first lead of the night just two minutes into the third period, as Sean Wert again would light the lamp for the Phantoms to increase the lead to 2-1.  The Wert strike would occur on the powerplay while a Snipersmere member was serving a slashing minor and be assited by Nate Skoboda.  Less than two minutes later, the Phantoms would again strike paydirt as Nate Skoboda would net his ninth of the season and put the Phantoms in front with a commanding 3-1 lead.  With the clock now against Snipesmeres, their focus would shift to a great-offensive effort in hopes of creating a comeback.  With the pressure up, Snipesmere would begin to throw everything towards the Phantom goal.  With 3:31 remaining in regulation, a Snipesmere attempt to net a goal would yield to a stoppage of play, as a Snipesmere forward would take one-too-many pokes at the puck beneath the Phantoms goaltender pads for the Phantoms Nate Skobodas and Keith Moormans liking.  The three would be physically forced to separate by the officials, but not before the Snipesmere member and the Phantoms Keith Moorman would lock fists in a battle for bragging rights.  Both members would be ejected and ultimately suspended with a Fighting major.  The balance of third period would be played without a hitch and the Phantoms would take claim to a 3-1 post-season victory.
