The West Michigan Phantoms were able to bounce back on Sunday and managed to record a season-high nine goals in the teams 9-2 victory over the Puck-Ups.  The victory marked the 18th consecutive victory against the Puck-Ups spanning the coarse of four seasons.  The last time that the Phantoms fell to the Puck-ups occurred during a December 2009 clash when the Men of Phantom Nation fell in overtime.  On Sunday, the Phantoms and Puck-Ups renewed a great and longstanding riviarly at Cedar Rock that saw both teams battling in a close game through two periods.  Ryan Mylenek would open the Phantom scoring just 6:42 into the contest, as the former Mona Shores Defensive stand-out would tally his second of the season to extend his goal scoring streak to two games and lift the Phantoms into a 1-0 lead (assisted by Jason Schemmel).  The Puck-Ups would even the duel six minutes later to knot both teams at 1-1.  With exactly one minute remaining in the opening frame, Chris Benedict would stage his fourth of the season (assisted by Tim Vanoverloop) to restore the Phantom lead at 2-1.  Less than 30 seconds later, Tim Vanoverloop would boost the Phantom lead to a pair, as the Phantom Ice defensemen would record his first of the season for his former in-line team and give the Phantoms a 3-1 lead after the opening 16 minutes.  In the second period, Chad Manning would continue to add to this team-leading goal total, as the red-hot Phantom would stage his eighth of the season (assisted by Tim Czycyk) to put the yellow shirts in front of a 4-1 lead.  Midway into the middle stanza, the Puck-Ups would manage to halt the Phantom scoring machine with their second of the contest to bring the Puck-Ups to within two goals of the Phantoms trailing 4-2.  That 4-2 Phantom lead would hold through the second period, with the Phantoms edging the Puck-Ups 19-14 through two periods in shots. The third period would witness the Phantoms go on a five-goal scoring blitz to completely take charge and put the game away.  Nate Tyler would record his first of the season just one minute into the third period, as the life-long 31-season Phantom veteran would receive a set-up assist from Chris Benedict to begin the third period trouncing of the Puck-Ups.  Minutes later, Gordie Anderson would make his return to Phantom Hockey following a two-game absence due to a medical condition, as the Sidney Crosby of Phantom Hockey would stage his first of the campaign to push the lead to 6-2.  Tim Vanoverloop would answer again four minutes later, as the former Stick Head would register his second of the contest (assisted by Gordie Anderson) to continue the Phantom surge.  Chad Manning (unassisted) and Chris Benedict (assisted by Jason Schemmel) would round out the Phantom scoring in the final five minutes of the third period to complete the Phantom toppling of the Puck-Ups by the final of 9-2.  On the game, the Phantoms outshot the Puck-Ups 32-22.  On the Penalty Minute Clock, the Phantoms were sentenced on two minors for four minutes, while the Puck-Ups earned a two-minute trip to the sin-bin.  The Phantoms skated without the services of Brian Doctor, John Dykehouse and Eric Stubig.  The victory pushes the Phantoms lead to 3-1 on the season.  The team will return to action on Sunday, August 7 to tangle with the Coyotes.  Due to a change in the Cedar Rock schedule, the Phantoms 500th franchise game will shift from the previously announced August 7th game at Cedar Rock to an August 9th game at Walker Ice & Fitness.
