Despite a minor set-back during the Coyote Ugly game, the Phantom South offense has been hot and heavy this season. On August 18th, the Phantoms excelled with their second nine goal performance of the season to defeat KC F4ggots by the final of 9-5. Keith Mooreman and Jason Schemmel each tallied a three-goal hat-trick for the yellow shirts, while Patrick Ewerth netted a pair and Matt Mead staged a singleton for the victors. Despite trailing 2-0 in the eagle stages of the opening period, Phantom South charged back and scored five goals in a span of roughly five minutes to overtake KC F4ggots and post a 5-2 lead in the early stages of the second period. Four more Phantom South goals would be registered to increase the Phantom denomination to a commanding 9-2 lead. In an effort to give more experience to its team members, Phantom South then moved the team's forwards to defense and the team's defense to forward for the duration of the contest. Three KC F4ggot goals would be scored in the final period, however, the change of play by the Phantoms only helps the team continue to grow and become more solid. In the end, Phantom South would skate away with a 9-5 victory and return to solid ground with a 2-1 overall record. Through three games this season, Phantom South has become the highest scoring team in the division with 22 goals scored in three games. Phantom South played without the services of Matt Zehr, Brad Zehr and John Dykehouse during the contest. Jason Schemmel and Trent Kik would called into action for the yellow shirts. Phantom South will enjoy an off-week next week and return to Rivertown Sports on Wednesday, September 1st against Blue Vortex.
