Last season Phantom South struggled with numerous one goal games. This season, it appears that the team has found its offense and is ready to shake and bake. On Wednesday, the team kicked off its second season in the franchise's reunion tour at Rivertown Sports against the Aces. Six different Phantom members would register goals in the opener, as Phantom South bombed the Aces by the final of 9-0. Matt Zehr, newcomer John Dykehouse and team sub Darin Lambert each staged a two goal performance for the Phantoms, while newcomer Keith Moorman and Tim Vanoverloop tallied singletons. The Phantoms easily controlled the contest from the start and the shut-out victory marked the third time in now 13 Phantom South games that the team has recorded a shut-out. The Phantoms played without the services of Patrick Ewerth and Chad Manning and were unable to use the services of either team sub Trent Kik or Gordie Anderson. Darin Lambert, who is on leave from the Army, was able to return to the hockey rink and play in his first game in 3 1/2 years. Despite spending the past years in Iraq, Darin didn't miss a beat since his deployment as he struck with a pair of goals for the Phantoms. The Phantoms will return to action on Wednesday, August 11th to tangle with the Coyote Uglies.
