The West Michigan Phantoms continue to operate in need of some much needed life-support, as the Men of Phantom Nation suffered their second consecutive white-wash of the season on Sunday falling to the Red Devils by the final of 7-2.  The Red Devils combined with four goals in the final period to completely take control of the contest.  For the Phantoms, the team watched as two players would get ejected as a result what many on the team considered very biased officiating.  A combined total of 36 minutes in Phantom penalties would be dealt to the Yellow Shirts, compared to 10 minutes in penalties to the Red Devils.  The Phantoms would play a stronger contest than the week before, but still suffered basic breakdowns in nearly every aspect of the game.  The Red Devils would get on the board early in the opening period as a very soft and slow motion shot would almost seem to fly like a monarch butterfly over of the glove of the Phantom netminder and into the net.  The Devils would answer again with a mere 1:41 remaining in the opening period to settle into a 2-0 lead after the first 16 minutes.  As the Phantoms tried to get their game in line, the Red Devils would score what would become the game-winning goal with 7:55 remaining in the middle stanza to climb to 3-0.  The Phantoms would finally notch a dent in the Devil lead 52 seconds later as Brad Zehr would manage to trickle one past the Red Devil netminder to narrow the difference to two goals.  With the Phantoms sensing the need to become competitive, the team tried to work towards perfection in the third period, however, the Red Devils would continue to strike with a goal 1:51 into the third.  The Phantoms Jason Devroy would connect on a Gordie Anderson pass 5:10 into the period to reduce the difference to a 4-2.  However, from that point the wheels would fall off the Phantom bus as the Phantoms completely fell apart and returned to play of the week before, as the Red Devils would answer with the next three goals to skate to a 7-2 victory.  As mentioned, the Phantoms Mike Devore would get called for a pair of 10 minute misconducts to see the defensive member get banished with 3:42 remaining and Scott Vandonkelear would get escorted from the rink with a 10 minute misconduct and a game misconduct with 5:09 remaining in the game.  The Phantoms would be ticketed with a total of 36 minutes in penalties, including three minors for 6 minutes and three separate 10 minute misconducts.  The Red Devils would be called for five penalties all of which were minors for 10 minutes.  The Phantoms would be outshot on the contest 42-37.  The team would be without the services of Brain Doctor and Chris Benedict.  Both players will be in the line-up during the next game on March 30th when the team looks to take on Central Michigan.
