The Phantoms have always been a team that never rolls over and die.
Despite the Red Devils jumping out to what appeared to be a commanding 4-0
Lead in the game's first 6 minutes, the Phantoms were able to bounce back
and make the opening play-off game for each club a thrilling match.  The
Phantoms were able to get on the scoreboard with 7:31 remaining in the
opening period as Gordie Anderson would connect on a pass from Jason
Devroy to stop the hemmerging for the Phantoms and enter the first
intermission trailing 1-4.  During the second period, the Phantoms would begin
to get their feet and begin to narrow the deficit as Trent Kik, Brad Zehr and
Nate Tyler would each tally strikes for the Phantoms who were able to trim that
three goal deficit after the opening period to a single goal after two periods at
4-5.  In the third period, the Red Devils would gain an insurance goal with 8:35
remaining in the game to climb into a 6-4 lead.  The Phantoms Jason Devroy
would answer seconds later as the Biohazard product would gain the puck off
a Matt Zehr centering pass and bring the Phantoms back to within one at 5-6.
However, the Red Devils would strike with a shorthanded goal with 5:08
remaining to commence the contest scoring, as the Red Devils rebound from
last week's defeat to the Phantoms to overtake the Phantoms 7-5 in the
opening game of the play-offs.  For the Phantoms, the roller coaster season
continued for another week, as five players would be scratched.  Casey
Rosenberg, Ty Coon, Brian Doctor, Mike Shaver and Matt Myers would be
scratched for the Phantoms, as the team played with a mere six skaters and a
goaltender.  The Phantoms were out-shot 37-15 on the contest.  The
Phantoms combined for three minors for six minutes in penalties, while the Red
Devils were lucky to get called for only five penalties for ten minutes.  The
Phantoms will return to action on January 27th to tangle with Howie's.
Phantom players will wear the traditional yellow sweaters, as Howie's will
change to their Calvin College Alumni Jerseys.  Game time is set 4:00pm.

Team News:

--Team Jersey's will be collected following the Feb. 3rd game from all
players to have the Phantom logo put on those that do not have it.  There
will NOT be charge for this.

--Team Roster for the Spring '08 season is nearly completion.  To date,
nine skaters and a goalie are set.  5 Players have asked the team if they
can have the final spot.  Team is working to pick one. The roster will not
be made public until the day of the first game.
