The West Michigan Phantoms fell to the .500 level on Sunday, after falling to the Ghostbusters in an emotional 5-4 battle. The Phantoms started out very slow and did not manage to muster a noticeable effort until the third period, but as is the case in most games, the third period is a little too late to begin battling. A constant parade of Phantom trips to the Nauty's Penalty Box would be displayed by the Phantoms, as seven minors would create the pressure and strength needed for the Ghostbusters to seal the deal. Of the 14 minutes in Phantom penalties, the Phantoms would loose the services of Trent Kik late in the second period with his third minor of the night and Casey Rosenberg would be banished in the final seconds of regulation as the Muskegon product would be ticketed with a one-game suspension. As for the Ghostbusters, the former Revolution team would escape the night without a single second of penalty time. Talk about quality officiating!  As for the Phantom offensive stars, Casey Rosenberg would finish the night with a single goal, Gordie Anderson would receive a singleton and Brad Zehr would complete the Veteran's Day game with a pair of goals. The Phantom defense continued to struggle tonight, as the Yellow and Black appeared to play a no-touch style of defensive hockey, as the Ghostbusters were able to control play in the Phantom zone with very little obstruction. On the offensive side, a sluggish display of will power would not help the Phantoms control the puck and would not create the offense that would be needed. On the game, the Phantoms were outshot by the Ghostbusters 26-20, including a 10-4 tally in the second period alone, a period in which the Ghostbusters tallied a trio of goals. The Phantoms would battle until the end, tieing the game at 4-4 with a mere 40 seconds remaining, yet, six seconds after the Phantom goal, the Ghostbusters would win the face-off and skate in uninterrupted to knock home their game-winning-strike with a mere 34 seconds remaining. The Phantoms will return to action next Sunday, with a 5:00pm face-off against the highly favored GVSU A-Team. We Are The Phantoms!
