The West Michigan Phantoms kicked off the official start to Fall in a positive way, defeating the Revolution 6-3 to capture a play-off opening victory on Sunday at the Lazerskate Sports Plex in Cedar Springs. The Yellow and Black crew used a three goal third period eruption to slip away from the Revolution to attain the victory. Spear-heading the third period assault was a Matt Zehr interception deep in the Revolution zone as the Zehr Brother saucered the puck low stick-side on the Revolution back-up netminder only 5:16 into the third period to begin the Phantom assault. The Phantoms would receive goals from Gordie Anderson, Trent Kik, Casey Rosenberg, Matt Zehr and a pair of goals from Brad Zehr. The Phantoms outshot the Revolution 35-29 during the contest. The Phantoms were ticketed for a mere two penalties for four minutes, while the Revolution were ticketed for a single minor. In other play-off action, the Red Devils easily defeated the Eh Team, while Howie's also picked off the Eh Team 10-6 during their contest. The Phantoms will return to action next Sunday for a double-header. Game #1 of the home stand will take place at 3:00pm against Howie's, with Game #2 taking place at 5:00pm against the Eh Team. Note: Phantoms Will Wear BLACK jerseys against Howie's. Phantom Hockey...We Are the Phantoms!
