The Phantoms four game winning streak came to a brief end on Sunday during a 4-3 loss to the Red Devils. Despite a third period breakout in which the Phantoms erupted for a pair of goals, the Phantoms hope for another rally would be denied as the Phantoms suffered their second loss of the season and second this season to the Red Devils. The Phantoms would find themselves trailing 4-1 during the second period, but managed to fight back during the third period and climb to within one goal with a mere 1:05 remaining in the contest. Yet, the Yellow Shirts would not be able to create another storybook ending. Casey Rosenberg (from Nate Tyler) would tally a singleton during the contest as Brad Zehr (from Casey Rosenberg and Scott VanDonkelaar) and Scott VanDonkelaar (unassisted) would also tally goals for the Phantoms. Jeff Pacific would pinch-hit for the Phantoms in goal, as the Phantom netminder Kevin Wootton was unavailable for action. Jeff played very well for the team that he is usually playing against, as the Poop Collector turned aside 36 of 40 Red Devil shots on goal. For the Phantoms, a mere 26 shots were targeted towards the Red Devil goal. The Phantoms were ticketed for three minor penalties for six minutes and the Red Devils were ticketed for a minor and a double minor for six minutes. The Phantoms will remain idle until Sunday, September 9th with the teams returns from the Labor Day break to tangle with the Eh Team during a 3:00pm contest. Phantom Hockey...We Are The Phantoms!
