The Phantoms suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday, falling to the Red Devils 6-2 on the strength of three Red Devils goals in both the second and third periods. The Phantoms were pretty flat footed during the contest, putting only 16 shots on the Red Devil netminder. The mere 16 shots by the Phantoms ties the team record for the fewest shots taken since the team began keeping shot statistics 13 games ago. Back on May 20th, the Phantoms again only put 16 shots on net in a 8-7 loss to the Red Devils. On Sunday, the Red Devils would get on the board first by scoring the game's first goal during the second period. Minutes later, the Phantoms responded on a Gordie Anderson strike. Yet, some sluggish play during the balance of the second period and third would cost the Phantoms on the scoreboard as the Red Devils would continue to add to their lead. Despite a third period goal by Gordie Anderson to narrow the score to 5-2, the Phantom offensive would not be able to find much life during the game. The Phantoms would bow in defeat to the Red Devils 6-2 and suffer their second straight defeat to the Red Devils. The Phantoms were outshot by the Devils 36-16. The Yellow Shirts would ticketed with two penalties for four minutes and the Red Devils ticketed for one penalty for two minutes. The Phantoms next Sunday at 6:00 against the Revolution.
