The Phantom 13-game win streak was truncated on Sunday Night as the Phantoms fell for the first time in 133 days falling to the Red Devils 6-3. The Phantoms played very sloppy during the opening period as the Red Devils jumped into a 3-0 lead before the defending champs managed to stop the hemerging late in the period as Andy Roseart connected on a pass from Ty Coon to close out the first 16 minutes at 3-1. Following the opening period, the Phantoms did manage to slowly get their game going as passing started to improve and give-aways and turnovers were greatly reduced. The Phantoms would narrow the game to 3-2 when Gordie Anderson captured an unassisted goal, yet the Red Devils would answer back to close out the period with a 4-2 lead. In the third period, fatigue and a short bench would doom the Phantoms, as the Red Devils tallied a pair and the Phantoms struck with only a singleton by Ty Coon. The 6-3 loss by the Phantoms was not all bad, as the Phantom penalty killing unit would be perfect, including shutting down a Red Devil 2-man advantage for nearly 1:46 seconds. The Phantoms were ticketed for 7 penalties during the contest, while the Red Devils were assessed a mere four. The Phantoms were out shot by the Red Devils in a 2-1 margin, 32-16. The Phantoms played with a very depleted lineup, as only seven skaters were dressed at the start of the contest and Trent Kik banished in the second due to three questionable calls all made by the same referee. Brian Doctor, Casey Rosenberg, Derek Reid, Mike Shaver and Matt Myers were all scratched for the Phantoms during the contest.
