March 11, 2000 is a day that is forever engraved in the history of one of Michigan's top High School Hockey Programs. It was on that day that Muskegon Mona Shores defeated Brownstown-Woodhaven by the final of 6-3 to capture the Division 2 State Championship in High School Hockey at the IMA Sports Arena in Flint.

Nearly seven years later, the Phantoms have announced that the team has added one of those State Champions to the team's title defense for the upcoming Spring 2007 season. Derek Reid becomes the final addition to the Phantom arsenal. Derek Reid was a freshmen during that season and for Mona Shores which featured some of the best high school hockey players in the state to have a freshman on the team's blueline goes to show just what kind of player Derek was. While Derek was expected to receive a full time roster spot this season, he will fall back to the sub list for this season as a result of every member of last season returning. Because of a pre-planned ski trip to Colorado, Derek will not be available for service until the second game of the season. Welcome Aboard Derek!
