The Phantoms meteorically closed out 2006 with a bang, defeating the Puck-Ups by the final of 7-1 on Sunday, December 17th. The Win increases the Phantom winning streak to an impressive eight games, the best start for the Phantoms since the Summer 2006 season when the Yellow shirts excelled to a 9-1 record in their first ten conquests. Moreover, their current eight game winning streak is longest consecutive winning streak in a single season in nearly three years. The current streak is just four wins away from the longest winning streak in Phantom history set back during the Fall 2003 Copper season (Phantom Season #5), when the Yellow Shirts went twelve games without a loss. Sunday's victory over the Puck-Ups crowns the Phantoms as the Regular Season Champions for this season. The Phantoms will play the final remaining game of the regular season on January 7th when the team takes on Rouge River. Entering that contest, the Phantoms hold a three-point-advantage over the defending champions. For the Phantoms, their 8-1 record is the best of any team at Lazerskate. During their first nine battles, the Yellow Shirts have shelled the opponents to the tune of a 70-21 drumming. The 69 goals scored are tied for the most at Lazerskate this season and the meager 21 goals against are the fewest.
