Three weeks after defeating Real Men of Genius 4-3 in overtime during a semi-final playoff contest at Rivertown Sports, the Phantoms again created another upset as the Yellow Shirts defeated Rogue River 8-2 on Sunday. The win increases the Phantom winning streak to three games and ultimately truncates the Rogue River streak at three. The win also evens the season-series against Rogue River at 1-1 and pulls the Phantoms into a tie for the overall Silver lead. The Phantoms put into effect a strong game plan and a game plan that was followed 100% as the Phantoms reduced the highest scoring Lazerskate team heading into Sunday's action to a mere 2 goals. More importantly, the Phantom Defense was absolutely outstanding, shutting down Rogue River's top scorer Sean Wert. The Phantoms were led by Casey Rosenburg and Trent Kik on the score sheet, as both Casey and Trent recorded 3-Goal hat-tricks. For Trent, the three season rookie tallied his first goals of this 2006 Winter season. The Phantom also received goals from Gordie Anderson (1) and Mike Shaver (1). Goaltender Kevin Wootton continues to have a great season with help from his defense at the Cedar Springs arena, as the 18-season Phantom veteran netminder turned aside 28 of 30 Rogue River shots. The Phantoms played without the services of Nate Tyler who was on a photo tour visiting the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia. Matt Myers, the team's main sub for this Winter season, was called into action and recorded his second game of the season for the Phantoms. The Phantoms will return to action next Sunday during a 5:00pm contest
