As the West Michigan Phantoms prepare to enter the teams 41st season of hockey, the team is rolling out an entirely new league fee policy and beer policy for the Summer 2016 season.  For nearly 14 years, the Phantoms have prided ourselves on our team tradition, team values and competitive nature.  The new league fee policy and beer policy for the Summer 2016 season are the most aggressive the team has launched since its founding back in 2002.  The new target continues the importance of all members getting their fees paid early, but creating new and more aggressive goals to correct two topics that have handcuffed the team in recent seasons.penalties and goals against.  All of the new goals and targets are to help the Phantoms keep and display the most competitive product on the ice and ensure that the Phantoms have the greatest success for a victory and continue the individual and team rewards for overall success.  Details of the new plan are listed below:

LEAGUE FEES:

-League Fees for the Summer 2016 season will be required to be paid in full by the fifth game of the season.  (Exact amount of Summer league fees will be released once WIFC confirms team amount)

-If the Phantoms are able to complete the regular season as the least penalized team (based on minutes) during the Summer 2016 regular season, all full time league fee paying players will receive an entire refund of their Summer 2016 fees. (not to be combined with other policies to exceed total league fees)

-If the Phantoms are able to complete the regular season as the best defensive team (fewest goals against) during the Summer 2016 regular season, all full time league fee paying players will receive an entire refund of their Summer 2016 fees.  (not to be combined with other policies to exceed total league fees)

-In the event that the team is not the least penalized team in the league or is not the best defensive team (fewest goals against) during the Summer 2016 season and an individual player receives no penalty minutes, suspension, game misconduct or ejection during the regular season or post-season, that individual player will receive a $41 refund on their league fees at the end of the season.

BEER POLICY:

-The penalty minute leader from the last game will be responsible for bringing beer (24-Pack minimum) for the following game.  Additionally, any player who gets kicked out of a game (other than minor penalties) or gets suspended  will have their 24-pack added to the teams Beer Bank for use later in the season.  (if the player who gets kicked out or suspended is already the games penalty minute leader, the hit only counts as one).  In the event of multiple players being tied in penalty minutes during a game, the player who has recoded the most penalties in the entire season will be required to bring beer.  The Beer Bank will be used to cover missed games in the event the assigned beer bringer is unable to play in their scheduled beer game (their beer will then be banked).  The team will not hold any player accountable for just two penalty minutes during the game, unless that penalty was called in the final four minutes of the third period.   In the event that no player during the game meets or exceeds four minutes in penalties, any player being assessed a penalty in the final four minutes of the game will be required to bring beer the following game.  In the event there are no penalties called during the previous game and no beer banked in the system, goaltender Kevin Wootton will be responsible for bringing beer.
