The Yellow Shirts made for a very entertaining game on Sunday Night, as despite trailing by three goals at the end of the first period the Phantoms roared back and defeated Agape in the overtime shoot-out by the final of 5-4.  The shoot-out victory would be the first shoot-out win for the team in three attempts this season and first in four attempts dating back to last season's inaugural Ice Hockey season. Agape would manage to get on the board early in the opening period, as Ryan Stone would light the lamp for Agape just under three minutes into the opening frame.  Despite the Phantoms exerting some pressure following the Agape strike, a rather sloppy and dysfunctional period would be played by the Phantoms.  In the final 1:09 of the opening period, the sloppy play by the Phantoms in conjunction with some perfect-lucky bounces for Agape would allow two additional goals to be scored by Agape and catapult Agape into a 3-0 lead after the opening period.  A very stunned and shocked Phantom bench would try to swallow the difficult ending of the opening period and try to put the pieces in place during the intermission to mark their comeback in the game.  Despite the discussion at the Phantom bench during the intermission, the Phantoms would dig themselves further behind early in the second period as Agape would open up into a 4-0 lead less than a minute into the middle stanza.  With the Phantoms struggling to not let all the wheels fall off the bus, the team would gain a positive reward just 14 seconds following Agape's fourth goal.  Chad Manning would light the lamp for the Phantoms just 2:05 into the middle stanza, as the Comstock Park grad would tally his third goal of the season and extend his personal point streak to a season-high four games, as Manning would put the Phantoms on board trailing 4-1.  That lone Phantom strike in the second period would occur while the Phantoms were working on dumping anything and everything at the net and trying to put as much traffic in front of the Agape goal as possible in an effort to catch a break.  The Phantoms would enter the third period still trailing Agape by three goals at 4-1.  In the third period, the Phantoms would finally begin to put their team game to work.  While the Phantoms were skating on the powerplay following an Agape Body Checking penalty, Matt Zehr would tally his seventh of the season (assisted by Trent Kik and Gordie Anderson) to begin the Phantom rally and trim the game to a 4-2 Agape advantage.  That Matt Zehr strike would come one week after the team's "Meat-Lovers-Line" consisting of the combination of Matt Zehr, Trent Kik and Gordie Anderson would be called out after posting a -2 plus/minus the week before in a Phantom 6-2 victory.  Roughly four minutes later the Phantom powerplay would come alive again.  While enjoying the benefits of a 5-on-3 advantage following separate Agape penalties for Tripping and a Bench Minor, the Phantoms would trim the score to just one.  Casey Rosenberg would connect a Sean Wert set-up feed with 4:43 remaining in the third period to cap his ninth of the season (assisted by Sean Wert) and bring the Yellow Shirts to within one goal at 4-3.  The outstanding third period play by the Phantoms would have the entire bench jumping; yet, one more goal would be needed before the comeback would be complete.  The Phantom's comeback hope would suffer a huge blow with 50 seconds remaining in regulation as Nate Tyler would be ticketed on a head-contact penalty (two minute minor) allowing Agape a huge opportunity to escape the game with the win.  In a last ditch effort, the Phantoms would lift their goaltender Kevin Wootton with approximately 40 seconds remaining in regulation in hopes of achieving that equalizer and comeback.  The Phantom unit would set up shop deep inside the Agape zone and complete a perfect execution of their offensive talents.  That work would pay off as Brad Zehr would mount the short-handed, game tying tally with just 8 seconds remaining in regulation to bring the Phantoms to their feet and stun Agape with a last-second Phantom goal to complete the third period comeback and attain the equalizer.  That Brad Zehr shot from just inches from the left hand side of the goal would be assisted by another set-up feed from Sean Wert.  Despite trailing 4-1 entering the third period, the Men of Phantom Nation would complete the comeback and earn one important point in the standings and for the third time this season advance the contest to the overtime shoot-out.  Entering this shoot-out against Agape, the Phantoms have only registered one goal in nine opportunities this season and have ultimately failed in each shoot-out attempt previous.  The Phantoms would elect to shoot first in the shoot-out and neither the Phantom's Sean Wert nor Brad Zehr would manage to net goals for the team during the first two-rounds of the extra frame.  Additionally, Phantom netminder Kevin Wootton would steer away both shots faced from Agape shooters in the first two rounds.  In the third (and final unless tied round), the Phantoms would send Casey Rosenberg over the boards in an attempt to finally send one past 'Tang' in the Agape goal.  As if the Muskegon product was a perfectionist, Rosenberg would back-hand a beauty past 'Tang' and into the back of the goal to give the Phantoms a 1-0 lead in the shoot-out. It would all come down to second-ice-season-star-goaltender Kevin Wootton in the final Agape shot.  Earlier in the afternoon, Wootton was thrilled following a Blackhawk win over Detroit and that energy would pay off as the  Phantom netminder would present no options for the Agape shooter on the break-away and deny Agape's hopes for an sudden-death shoot-out.  The Phantom bench and players would come to embrace and celebrate their huge victory against Agape inside their own zone and follow that celebration up in the locker room following the game.  As mentioned, the shoot-out win by the Phantoms marks the team's first ever shoot-out win at Walker Ice & Fitness in four attempts dating back to last season and improves the team's overall record to an impressive 11-4-2 on the season.  On the game, the Phantoms were ticketed on four penalties for eight minutes, while Agape was sentenced on six penalties for 20 minutes including a double-game misconduct.
