The West Michigan Phantoms continue to experience a rather flat and non-existent offense as the team dropped its third one-goal game and second consecutive shoot-out on Sunday falling to the Coyote Uglies by the final of 4-3.  The defeat continues to lower the teams overall season record which fell to a disappointing and unacceptable record of 1-2-0-2.  The Phantoms, who use to be one of the top teams in the shoot-out, have managed to go silent as the yellow shirts have failed to net a single tally in their past eight shots in the shoot-out sessions, six of which this season, dating back to last season.  Moreover, the defeat marks the third straight overtime defeat for the Phantoms dating back to last-season.  Additionally, the Phantoms have experienced a rather disastrous third period this season as of the three single-goal games that the team has fallen in, all have witnessed the Phantoms in front entering the third period.  On Sunday, the Phantoms would receive all of the teams scoring from unexpected heros, as none of the top forwards of the team would manage to register a single point in the decision.  Chad Manning would open the games scoring with 48 seconds remaining in the opening period, as an n error by the Coyote Uglies goaltender Greg Foster would allow the Phantoms to jump into a 1-0 lead after 16 minutes of play.  The Coyotes would answer right back less than a minute into the second period, as former Phantom Matt Myers would stage his first of the season for the Coyotes after returning to the line-up following surgery earlier in the season.  Approximately four minutes later, the yellow shirts would restore the lead at 2-1 as Darren Skuse would set up Tim Vanoverloop for his third of the season just 5:44 into the stanza. That single Phantom strike would keep the Phantoms in charge of a very low 2-1 lead entering the third period.  In the third, Chad Manning would register this second of the night and third of the season with 10: 26 remaining in the contest (assisted by Gordie Anderson) to give the Phantoms their first two goal lead of the night at 3-1.  However, a turnover by the Phantom defense and later a scramble in front of the Phantom cage would witness the Coyotes Matt Myers strike with two more goals in the contest to ultimately even the contest at 3-3 with 5:13 remaining in regulation.  In the shoot-out, the Phantoms Tim Czycyk, Chris Wietfeldt and Casey Rosenberg would each fail to register a tally and on the last shot of the night, the Coyotes and Phantom-South member Kyle Clark would register the lone shoot-out goal to give the Coyotes a 4-3 shoot-out victory of the season and just their second of the season.  On the game, the Phantoms would register only 26 shots on goal, much of which targeted right at the chest of the Uglies netminder.  The Phantoms would out-shoot the Coyotes 26-23 on the evening.  The Phantoms would be ticketed with two minors (including an undisciplined bench minor for too-many men on the ice) for four minutes, while the Coyotes would be ticketed on just a single minor for two minutes.  The Phantoms would skate without the services of Chris Benedict, Justin Calkins and John Dykehouse on the evening.  The recently announced Player Incentive for Lumberjack night on March 19th would be tarnished and truncated just days after being announced.  The team will return to action on Sunday, March 13th as they hope to stop a current four-game losing skid.
