It was a great turn out for the Phantom vs. Good Ole Boy Holiday Scrimmage on Sunday night. 20 skaters and two goaltenders battled it out during the very exciting and history making event at Cedar Rock Sports Plex. In the end, the Phantoms took claim to a 9-3 decision over the Good Ole Boys. Despite the Phantoms only having a 2-1 lead after the opening period, the yellow shirts dig in and pile-drived seven more goals past Kevin Wootton in the Good Ole Boy goal during the final two periods. Phantom netminder Greg Foster displayed a great performance in his Phantom debut, turning aside 21 of 24 Good Ole Boy shots. For the Phantoms, the team was led by Brian Doctor and Trent Kik with three goals each, Jason Schemmel, Tim Czycyk and Chad Manning struck with one goal for their club. Justin Calkins led the Phantoms in assists with three on the night, Tim Vanoverloop staged two helpers, while Tim Czycyk, Matt Mead, Jason Schemmel and Chad Manning each had a single helpers. For the Good Ole Boys, Brian Bonzheim, Kurt Boeske and Brad Zehr beat Phantom netminder Greg Foster for the lamp lighters. The only penalty of the contest was inflicted against the Good Ole Boy's Dan Craveling for delay of game. On the game, the Phantoms out shot the Good Ole Boys 35-24. This event was a great blast and we hope that members of both teams had fun. A photo CD will be available in the coming weeks featuring over 100 photos of the Holiday Scrimmage. This photo CD will be free to those who were involved. Thanks to Cedar Rock for making this event possible and to everyone who was able to play and experience hockey at Cedar Rock.
