Twenty-Six season Phantom netminder Kevin Wootton will return to work in late October and could have his hockey schedule effected. Wootton has been laid-off since January with CSX Transportation, a railroad off of Chicago Drive that operates trains to Chicago, Detroit and Toledo. With more cuts at CSX, the Phantom goaltender will resign as a yardmaster and return to work for Marquette Rail based out of Ludington, Baldwin and Manistee. Kevin worked during the winter of 2007 up at Marquette Rail during another CSX lay-off. While it is uncertain which schedule and shift Wootton will be working, he may or may not be able to play goalie for the Phantoms begining in late October. Wootton has talked to Cedar Rock Sports Plex about the situation and they agreed to work with Wootton and the Phantoms on scheduling issues. While the first couple of weeks could create issues, it is believed that Wootton will be able to remain with the team if games are shifted to either 3:00pm or 8:00pm. More information on the status of Wootton will be made available once more information is known.
