For the first time since the Phantoms shifted play to Cedar Rock Sports Plex, the team remains undefeated through the initial three starts of the season. On Sunday, the Phantoms were able to explode during the third period to upend the Turkeys by the final of 10-1. The victory keeps the Phantoms in sole control of the league lead with a perfect record of 3-0. Despite a total of 14 minutes in penalties against the Phantoms, the Yellow and Black were easily able to control the Turkeys during the contest that was one of the worst officated games in some time. (With a team rich in hockey knowledge and referees, we have the knowledge to back that claim up). The Phantoms were able to get started early, as just a mere 20 seconds into the tilt, Norm Farr would set up Chris Benedict to lift the Phantoms into a 1-0 lead. The Phantoms would capture the ulimate game-winning goal roughly 5:30 later, as Scott Vandonkelaar would send Tim Czycyk on a short-handed breakaway and the former Phantom Bronze refugee would strike to increase the Phantom lead to 2-0. In a rather tight defensive period, the Phantoms would escape with a 2-0 lead after the opening period in which they outshot the Turkeys 10-6. In the early stages of the middle period, the Turkeys would strike with their lone mark on the scoreboard. With the Turkeys exerting powerplay pressure inside the Phantom zone, the Turkeys would use a forward to screen Phantom netminder Kevin Wootton and that screen would yield a powerplay goal just 2:35 into period two.

The Phantoms would not be phrased, as Tim Czycyk would respond four minutes later (assisted by Scott Vandonkelaar) to net his second goal on the night. Entering this contest, Phantom newcomer Norm Farr had netted a hat-trick in each of the Phantom's two previous starts. Norm would begain another mission to keep his streak alive 1:45 after the Czycyk strike. Casey Rosenberg would set up Norm and the Rivertown Sports product to net his team leading seventh goal of the season to increase the Phantom lead to 4-1. The Turkeys netminder Jeff Pacific would have his hands full during the second period, as the highly potent Phantom offense would unleash 17 shots towards the Pacific net. Following the second period, the Phantoms owned a 4-1 lead and were outshooting the Turkeys 27-12 through two periods. In the third and final period, the Phantoms would explode offensively, despite receiving a total of eight minutes in penalties in the final frame. Team captain Chris Benedict would begin the Phantom's third period outburst, as the East Kentwood assistant coach would net his first goal of the season 3:08 into the period (assisted by Jason Schemmel) to increase the team lead to 5-1. That Benedict strike would occur 29 seconds into a shorthanded opportunity for the Phantoms. With an even eleven minutes remaining in regulation, Norm Farr would strike with his second goal of the contest (assisted by Casey Rosenberg) to expand the Phantom lead to five at 6-1. Scott Vandonkelar would keep the offense flowing, as the Grand Valley student would strike 1:30 later to net his third goal of the season. With six minutes remaining in the tilt, the Phantoms Jason Schemmel would strike (assisted by Tim Czycyk) to increase the Phantom lead to 8-1. With the world famous 4:20 remaining in the third period, Scott Vandonkelaar would net his second goal of the evening (assisted by Jason Schemmel) to expand the Phantom lead to 9-1. Exactly 80 seconds later, the Phantom's Norm Farr would complete his mission to achieve his third hat-trick of the season and expand his hat-trick goal scoring streak to three games, as Farr would net an unassisted tally with three minutes remaining in the game to secure the 10-spot for the Phantoms. Despite a chippy end to the contest, the Phantoms were keep their cool and skate off the rink enjoying a lop-sided 10-1 victory. On the game, the Phantoms outshot the Turkeys 37-16. Those 37 shots on goal mark the most shots on goal by the Phantoms this season and is the most since 40 shots were registered by the Phantoms nine games ago against the Red Devils. On the night, the Turkeys were inflicted with three minors for six minutes, while the Phantoms were ticketed on seven minors for 14 minutes in penalties. The Phantoms will return to action next Sunday to take on the resurgent Dangleberries, who defeated Howie's 5-4 early in the day.
