The West Michigan Phantoms, proud member of the West Michigan hockey scene for over 5 years, are excited to announce that the team is set to enter the team's 22nd consecutive season. To date, 268 games have been played under the Phantom banner, a number that was only possible due to the hardwork and determination from every Phantom player. For the last several seasons, the team has been returning to its roots, beginning back players that were apart of Phantom Hockey back in the team's early years. This season, the franchise is 'pleased as punch' to have finally brought the Jr. Phantom idea from a thought to a reality. With several former Jr. Phantom players returning to the franchise after a several year break, the team's overall goal is to bring them to Lazerskate and possibly reunite them with a spot on the Silver team down the road. Besides the hardwork and determination that has allowed the team to remain together since the fall of 2002, friendships between the players have allowed the team to continue. For a majority of the team, each player knew others well before the Phantoms were created and a majority on the team hang out together outside of hockey. This bond between players is critical for any successful team. Not only do the players look out for one another outside of the rink, but will support one another and backup one another on the rink. For the creator of the Phantoms Kevin Wootton, he is completely thrilled that the team has survived this long. "Never in my wildest dreams did I think this team would still be playing together in 2008. We have been through some difficult times as a team, but it seems like in the recent years we have enjoyed a great success and that is a result of a great group of Phantoms having fun," said Wootton. As the Phantoms prepare for the Spring '08 season to start, the team would like to remind everyone that we are in it for fun, but We Are The Phantoms and we will stand behind one another because we are a team and we are friends.
