A rematch of last season's championship game took place on Sunday and the defending Silver Champion Phantoms took claim to yet another victory against Rouge, this time a 4-3 decision. A Phantom Power Play with 5:41 remaining in a tied game took only 13 seconds to connect, as Ty Coon would win a puck battle behind the Rouge River net and circle in front to the left side of netminder Jordan Stover, where Ty unleashed a cannon underneath the sprawled out netminder to give the Phantoms a 4-3 lead with only 5:28 remaining in regulation. The Phantom lead would be only the team's second single goal lead of the night, as the Yellow Shirts fought from down two separate single goal set-backs to power over Rouge River during the second and third periods. The win improves the Phantoms lifetime record to 6-1 over Rouge River. Since the Phantoms first career game at Lazerskate in which the team fell to Rogue River 4-3, the Men of Phantom Nation have captured six straight wins against the Rivermen. The Phantoms improve to 6-3 on the season, with only one more regular season contest remaining. With a very short Phantom bench on Sunday, the team was forced to play a 4-'O'/3-'D' combo and every member of offensive unit recorded a goal for the Phantoms; Andy Roseart, Trent Kik, Gordie Anderson and Ty Coon would each tally a singleton for the defending champions. For Rouge River, the Silver Division's second leading scorer Sean Wert with 19 goals entering the contest, recorded all three Rouge River strikes. The Phantoms were ticketed with seven penalties on the night, 6 minors for 12:00 minutes and 1 Ten-Minute Misconduct for 10:00pm. Rouge River, only three penalties for 6:00 minutes. For the seventh straight game this season, the Phantom's were outshot by the opponent 36-30. The Phantoms were without the services of Casey Rosenberg (suspended), Matt Zehr (Graduation Ceremonies), Brian Doctor (sick), Eric Maxwell (work) and Mike Shaver (work). The team will return to action this coming Sunday as they close out the regular season during a 8:00pm contest against a much improved Team Short-Bus. Phantom Hockey...We Are The Phantoms!
