The Phantoms won a wild one on Sunday, defeating the Revolution 8-7 to capture the team's fifth victory of the season and retain sole possession of second place. The Phantoms erupted to a 4-1 lead after the first period and tallied another in the early stages of the middle stanza, before sitting back and watching the Revolution charge back with a four goal late period assault to trim the Phantom lead to 5-4. During the third period, the Phantoms would continue to walk a tight wire act as the Yellow and Black would be called for 19 penalty minutes during the final half of the third period. This parade to the box would allow the Revolution to have a chance on three separate 4-on-2 advantages. Despite the huge on-rink man-power advantage for the Revolution, the Rockford Boy's would tally only 11 shots on goal during the final period, making the third period the lowest shot total period for the Revolution during the contest. The Phantoms would fend off the Revolution and the Penalties during the third period to escape with a 8-7 win. Casey Rosenberg led the Phantoms in scoring with his fourth-hat-trick of the season recording three goals on the night. Derek Reid recorded his first goals of the season with a strike in the first and third periods. Andy Roseart, Gordie Anderson and Brad Zehr each also tallied the singletons for the Phantoms. For the fifth game in a row, the Phantoms were outshot 41-30. The Phantoms were called for 9 penalties, 8 of which in the third period, for a 21 minute game total. As for the Revolution, they were ticketed for only two penalties for four minutes. The Phantoms will return to action next Sunday with a 8:00pm contest against Howie's. Because of the late game, several Phantoms will be unavailable for the contest, as a result Mike Shaver and next-seasons star Eric Maxwell are expected to be dressed for the Phantoms.
