The Phantoms climbed above the .500 mark for the first time this season as the Yellow & Black took claim to the team's third victory of the season as the defending champions defeated Team Shortbus by the final of 8-4 on Sunday. A spirited campaign between the team that features several Bronze leagued players and the Phantoms created much energy and much enthusiasm for both teams. Despite Team Shortbus having two players that are teammates of the Phantom netminder's Bronze team, this contest was anything but friendly. Ten penalties were handed out for 28 minutes between both clubs, but the surprising fact is that not only did Phantom Star Trent Kik not tally a single minute, but Team Shortbus was ticketed for 7 penalties (22 Minutes) to the Phantoms mere 3 penalties (6 Minutes). The Phantoms managed to capture two power-play goals and complete the contest with every member that began play still playing at the final buzzer. Despite the win, the Phantoms for the third game in a row were outshot by the advisories 34-31. Derek Reid, the newest Phantom to join the team really displayed a great showing as the former Mona Shores standout is finally adjusting to a new pair of skates and roller hockey. Casey Rosenberg lead the Phantoms with a three-goal hat trick, while Matt Zehr recorded a duce and Nate Tyler, Trent Kik and Brian Doctor each staged a singleton. The win continues to keep the Phantoms towards the top end of the 6-team division. Following the close of action on March 25th, the Phantoms are tied with the Red Devils for control of second place in the league, both with 3-2 records. Howie's Hockey Tape remains the top dogs with an undefeated record of 5-0. The Phantoms and Red Devils improve to three points superior to Rouge River, Team Shortbus and the Revolution.
