Hard to predict that outcome last night boys! Hard to believe that a team made up of mostly players that spend most of their hockey time on ice, was able to pull together in an tough situation and come away with a championship. I knowit wasnt in my mind that we would be posing for a championship photo at the end of that game. Despite the negativity in my mind entering the game, one quote from a non-hockey and non-Phantom individual yesterday was in my mind during the game But have faith in the rest of the team too. It easy to look back to reflect today, but the comment made by I believe Shaver in the locker room after the game, summed it up the best. Historically, when Im mad and upset, is when I play my best game. Last night must have been one of those games. Winning a championship is always great, winning a Phantom championship is even better, winning a championship at the rink it all started at and in front of players cheering against us is even sweeter. Viking Spas only lost twice this season and their biggest loss was our perfect victory. The Phantoms go out 7-3-1-1 on the season and with the teams eighth championship. All of the sweat throughout the course of the hot and humid season was definitely worth it. The Its a Good Sweat, Hotter than Hell in here, This place is a dump and Why did I agree to this quotes all sound so pity now. To Shaver who pushed and pushed to form a team and said we need to wear the Yellow jerseys.Thank you. To all of the players that returned to Rivertown on behalf of the Phantoms for this Summer RunThank you. West Michigans most hated team once again proved #PhantomStrong and was able to keep our tradition of everyone hating us continue. To those players returning for the Fall season under the Gong Show bannerI wish you the best of luck. For myself, my winter commitments return to Muskegon for the Lakeside Locomotives who next Tuesday begin our fifth ice season. I would love to defend the title, but confident that Gong Show and Kevin Beyer in goal will do just fine. From a 36 year goaltender that continues to dream and helps this Black & Yellow thing we call the Phantoms continueCheers to a Great Season, Great Championship and Great Friends!
